GENERAL
Donation of items to the club will be gratefully received
at any time.
All auction attendees,
both buyers and sellers, require a bidder number which will
be assigned at the OVRC table. Selling is by lot number, as
denoted by a tag attached to each item. Detailed printed statements
are provided at cash-out or included with mailed cheques.
OVRC rents the
auction room from the City of Ottawa, and it must be left
in a clean state after the auction is over. All unwanted items
remaining in the auction room after the auction is over, including
‘No Sale’ items, must be removed by the person who brought
them.
The Ottawa Vintage
Radio Club will not be responsible for making any restitution
regarding claims for: misrepresentation of, undisclosed defects
in, damage to or unaccounted for lots consigned for sale.
Disagreement over the condition of any item purchased at an
OVRC auction sale, or in any other manner that may be associated
with OVRC, must be resolved between the seller and the buyer.
BUYING
All buyers must be paid-up members of OVRC. Anyone may
join the club on the day of the auction by completing a registration
form at the OVRC table and paying a one year membership (currently
$10.00). There is no buyer’s commission.
Assessment of the
condition of auction items is solely the responsibility of
the buyer. The policy is ‘Caveat Emptor’. Buyers must pay
at or before the end of the auction, settlement may be by
cash or cheque payable to ‘OVRC’.
SELLING
Non-members are encouraged to sell their radio-related items
at OVRC auctions with confidence. See www.ovrc.org for contact
details. Non-members who sell only do not require club membership.
Sellers are encouraged
to pre-consign their items prior to the day of the auction
by telephone, email or the post office so that lot tags will
be ready when they register for their bidder numbers. Sellers
are responsible for attaching lot tags to their items. Lot
information may be edited or lots may be withdrawn from the
auction at any time prior to sale by advising the Auction
Clerk.
Sellers shall make
no willful misrepresentation of the condition of an item for
sale, nor shall they in any way disguise known defects.
The default reserve
bid is $1. Sellers can set a higher amount by declaring it
at time of consignment. Reserves above the default can be
amended verbally by the seller at the moment of sale. OVRC
charges sellers a commission of 10% of the selling price,
with a minimum of $1 and a maximum of $10 per item.
Payouts to sellers
will be made at the auction where possible. Where payout is
not concluded at the auction or the seller does not attend
or departs before all of his lots are sold, a cheque will
mailed within two days of the end of the auction.
